THE SUBHASHINI DEVI CHAIR

“The Subhashini Devi Chair” was established in Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya via resolution no. 22 in the 77^th meeting of the Executive council on 08/12/23.

The Research Chair has been established with the objectives such as - to conduct research on the life of BPSMV’S revered founders Bhagat Phool Singh Ji and Behen Subhashini Devi Ji; to critically study and analyze the philosophy propounded and practiced by Behan Subhashini Devi Ji; to study the influence of Arya Samaj and other social reformers on Bahagt Phool Singh Ji and Behan Subhashini Devi Ji; to study the Gurukul Parampara and its relevance in modern times; to study the concept of Jan Bhagidari and its applicability as society-university interface; to prepare and publish monographs on Bhagat Phool Singh Ji and Behan Subhashini Devi Ji; to create a corpus of video interviews and recordings; to start academic programmes on the life and philosophy of Bhagag Phol Singhji and Behan Subhashini Devi Ji; to disseminate the philosophy of Behan Subhashini Devi Ji and Bahgat Phool Simgh Ji through conduct of seminars, symposia, workshops and conferences followed by publication of books and proceedings; to start online academic programmes on key tenets of Gurukul Parampara for foreign students; to prepare academic assignments for the in-house students to undertake; to conduct intra-university and inter-university competitions on the relevant themes; to sign MOUs with the women institutions established on the similar lines and working towards women empowerment; to institute ‘The Subhashini Devi Awards’ (two awards each year of Rs. 51000/- each) to be conferred on the Founders’ Day; to prepare a participatory website; to conduct lectures and expert talks by inviting experts; to undertake other activities suggested by the Advisory Committee from time to time.
