The Department of Education at Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Khanpur Kalan, Sonipat, carries a distinguished legacy that dates back to 1968, making it one of the pioneering centres for women’s teacher education in the region. Over five decades, it has consistently upheld its commitment to academic excellence, social responsibility, and women’s empowerment through education. What sets the department apart is its team of highly experienced faculty members who bring a blend of rich school-level practice, university-level teaching, and research expertise to mentor and guide students. The department offers a diverse range of programmes—B.Ed., M.Ed., M.A. (Education), Ph.D. in Education, and the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP)—all aligned with national policies and designed to prepare competent, reflective, and socially responsive educators. A distinctive feature of the department is its paid internship model, strong school–university partnerships, and consistent record of student success, with graduates securing placements in government and reputed private schools, as well as qualifying competitive examinations such as HTET, CTET, CET, UGC-NET, and JRF. Blending tradition with innovation, the department fosters a holistic ecosystem of learning, research, and professional readiness, enabling its students to emerge as leaders in education who make meaningful contributions to society.

Labs

There are several labs for different academic activities in Department of Education viz. Psychology Lab, Educational Technology Lab, Science Lab, Social Studies Lab, Work Experience Lab, Instructional Technology lab, Research Lab and Computer Lab. These labs are fully equipped with all the latest educational equipments/apparatus for use of the students in their day to day academic activities. Computer Lab is air conditioned and well equipped with internet facilities.

Department of Education has a separate Seminar Hall for the students being the hub academic co-curricular activities for organizing Workshops, Seminars, Conferences, Extension Lectures and cultural activities. Seminar Hall is well equipped with all modern gadgets. It has capacity of 200 seats.

In this age of information, the library services must be the heart of any institution. The Library (Learning and Resource Centre) plays a vital role in providing & nurturing knowledge and aiding in learning activities. The Primary purpose of the library is to support teaching, research, academic programmes. Department of Education has a vast and spacious library having seating capacity of 100 students. The library has 12666 Books on different subjects, 23 Educational Journals, 27 Magazines and 11 Newspapers, are subscribed by the institute.

The First Aid-room has all the necessary first-aid kit for giving immediate first-Aid treatment to sick and needy students and faculty members. The students with serious illness are immediately taken to nearby hospitals and parents are informed immediately.
