Erstwhile, the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established as a part of School of Engineering and Sciences in the year 2008, initially department offers B.Tech programme with an intake of 60 students in Electronics and Communication Engineering. Since its inception, the department is committed for overall holistic growth and all round development of students for imparting a state-of the- art and quality education, training and research.  Efforts are under way to create state of art ICT aids, modern infrastructure and facilities for achieving excellence through the core support of rich faculty. The department runs the B.Tech courses as prescribed by the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Haryana and as per model syllabus & scheme of examination of AICTE. Further, the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established as University Teaching Department in October 2013.

The Department has very good infrastructure and instructional facilities to cater the needs of students and 12 well equipped laboratories with major instruments, trainer kits, measuring instruments and simulation tools. The students have full and unconditional access to simulation software/tools like MATLAB and its associated toolbox and blocksets, LabView, FPGA, COMSOL multi physics, Arduino Uno, Arduino Due, Raspberry pi etc. The students have access to various central facilities including medical aids, central and departmental library, sports complex, university computer center, cafeteria, shopping complex etc.  The department also offers full time M.Tech and Doctoral programme in diverse areas of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The main research activities are ICT in agriculture and rural development, wireless sensor networks, nanotechnology design, spintronics, photonics, fiber optics, optical communication, embedded system, image and video processing, signal processing, VLSI design, soft computing, renewable energy and other interdisciplinary and allied areas.  

The department is committed for overall professional and holistic development of students and organized various customized in-house programmes, training and placement activities, curricular and extra-curricular activities, cultural and sports activities to name only a few. Recently, the department has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Semi Conductor Laboratory, Department of Space, Government of India, S.A.S Nagar, Punjab and DS Automation & Controls, C-97, Ground Floor, Chattarpur Extension-II, New Delhi-110075, India for the overall growth of the students, faculty and department. The department is associated with professional bodies like ISTE for faculty and students for overall development.

The department has a strong and attracting alumni data base working successful professional career in diverse domains and reputed Govt. organizations, national &  multinational companies through on campus/off campus placements like ISRO, UPSC, CISF, public and private banks, Govt. Engineering College & NITs, TCS, Infosys, Dell, Wipro, Reliance, Accenture, Intel,  cognizant, Ericsson India, Zscaler, Softech and many more. The successful PG and Ph.D scholars from our department are presently working as faculty, post-doctoral fellows and research scholars in reputed institute nationally and globally.  Industrial and educational tours, curricular and extracurricular activities along with workshops, seminars, and expert talks are regularly organized by the department. The department is having students centered ELECOM society for overall professional development.
