About Us

The Central Library was established in 2006 fully air-conditioned, it functions as the primary information resources centre and electronic resources for Teaching and Research activities at the BPSMV.  The Central Library is spread over 9150 square feet area.  Reading hall has the capacity of around 100 readers.  The library has been growing in collection of Research reports, Theses & Dissertations, Reference works, Dictionaries, Encyclopedias and so on.  Library has connectivity with Internet and Wi-Fi facility for its users.  Many knowledge based services like Reference service, Reprography service, Databases, Internet Browsing and E-services are provided by the Central Library for its users. 

 The Central Library is a part of INDEST-AICTE consortium for e-journals access.  The Library has membership of INFLIBNET, DELNET from 2006 onwards. The Central Library is also contributing in E-Shodh Ganga Repository and E-Shodh Sindhu for e-resources.  It has access to many National and International Journals, Newspapers (Hindi & English).  The Library provides access to reputed Database/Journals like JSTOR, Institute for Studies in Industrial Development (ISID) database, Economic & Political Weekly (E&PW), NDL E-Resources (World E-Book Library, SAA) and Urkund Plagiarism Detection Software through UGC INFONET Digital Libraries Consortium.  .  CCTV Cameras have also been fixed at tangible points for surveillance. 

 The Central Library has total collection of 10903 Books, the constituent colleges / Schools / Polytechnic have separate Libraries collection 128822.  The library subscribes 36 Periodicals/Magazines and 17 Newspapers in Hindi & English.  The Central Library provides the Computer Lab facility to its user to access the e-resources.

Services Offered

Library Rules

Library Fee and Security Deposit
Library Fee and Security deposit as prescribed in the university prospectus shall be charged from all the students at the time of use of library membership. The security deposit is refundable within a year after leaving the University.

Permission to outsiders to use Library facilities.
The Research Scholars from other Universities may be permitted to use the University Library by the university librarian on recommendations of the of the Head of concerned department/discipline

Loss of Reader’s Tickets.
The Member shall be responsible for loss and misuse of the Reader’s Tickets. A Member who loses the Readers’ Ticket(s) shall submit an affidavit from Public Notary that he/she has lost his/her Reader’s Ticket(s) and shall be responsible for the loss of book issued against the lost Card(s). The Member shall be issued duplicate Reader’s Tickets after obtaining an Affidavit at the following charges:
i.   Reader’s Ticket   Rs. 5/ per ticket
ii.   ID-Card   Rs. 25/-
iii.   Full set (ID-Card + all Reader’s Tickets)  Rs. 50/- per set

Loan Privileges
The University Library shall issue an ID Card and Reader’s Tickets as per the entitlement of the bonafide members. The entitlement of the Members shall be as under:

Learning resources in the following categories shall not be issued.

  • Reference Books

  • Journals

  • Thesis

  • Rare Books

  • Reference Text Books

  • Course Catalogues and Question Papers


Recall and Re-issue of Books
Books shall not be re-issued to the same borrower, if they have been reserved by some other library user. Books can be recalled from any borrower, if required. Failure to return them will entail usual overdue charges from the date of recall.

Reservation of Books
A book on loan can be reserved for a Member on his/her formal request. Intimation shall be sent to the Member who had requested for reservation immediately after the return of the book. The member shall collect the book within four days from the date of issue of intimation, failing which the book shall go back in normal circulation.

Conditions of Loan
Borrowers must satisfy themselves about the physical condition of the books before borrowing. They shall be held responsible for any damage or mutilation noticed at the time of returning the book (s). All books on loan shall be returned on or before the due date marked on the Due-Date-Slip in the book, failing which overdue charges shall be realized from the borrower as per rules. Repeated violation of this rule by the Members, may lead to suspension or cancellation of the library membership of the defaulting member.

Overdues
Overdues, as laid-down hereunder, shall be charged from the members, if they fail to return the books on or before the due date as indicated on the Due-Date-Slip in the book:

Remission of Overdue Charges.
The University Librarian on justifiable grounds may remit full overdue charge or part thereof.

Loss of books (General, Text, Reference, Multivolume & Out-of-Print Books and Journals)

  1. If a book is lost by any Member, he/she shall be asked to replace the book subject to satisfaction of the University Librarian or Cost of the Book + Binding charges + 10 % of the book’s price as processing charge.

  2. If the book borrowed and lost by a Member is out-of-print, double the cost of book + binding charges will be charged.

  3. If the lost book is a foreign publication, current foreign exchange rates will be charged.

  4. If a volume of multi-volume publication is lost, the member may be allowed to replace the lost volume(s) of the same edition. In case the volume is not available in the market, the member shall be charged the current price of the full set. If the latest edition is available in the market, the entire set of new edition may be accepted as replacement or the cost thereof may be charged.

  5. In case an issue of a journal is lost, the member will have to replace the same, failing which the cost of complete volume will be charged.
